Landfil leaching

Reading this article would make anyone or at least most people want to limit there waste by reusing ,recycling and composting.
A massive landfill near Cache Creek where Metro Vancouver has dumped nearly eight million tonnes of waste.
This line in the article was the most shocking for me,I can not even imagine what 8 million tonnes of waste would look like,I did however visit a nearby landfill on one occasion and the mountains of garbage there astounded me but I am sure it was no where near the size of this one.

Crickets as human food

I feed crickets to my Asian painted frog but I am not sure I would want to eat them myself.Once you read the article they don't actually sound to bad though ground up into a meal.Live ones are a different story, they move so fast(I have lost a few in our house) they would be hopping all over the restaurant.

Product of Canada?

I am not a fan of Stephen Harper by any stretch of the imagination but this is one time I agree with him.I think this is a great idea and should have been done long ago.Consumers should be able to know where their food is coming from and the average person looking at a label marked made in Canada expects that all of the product comes from Canada not that almost half could be made anywhere else in the world.

bisphenol A

The fact that this stuff is used in baby bottles is quite scary and the fact that it harms fish and other aquatic life is also big concern for me.I wonder how long it has been in use and even if I used bottles with it when I was a baby or if it's use became more common recently. There are so many chemicals, some of which are quite dangerous to human health,in our world today that it seems almost impossible to avoid them all.

Films may not recieve tax dollars

I don't think this is good if it's true,it really seems like censorship to me and I don't see any need for it,no one has to go and see any film if they don't want to but that doesn't mean others may not be interested in viewing it. Many good films could be denied tax credits because of this.

Is Canada becoming less tolerant?

I found this article quite interesting although some of the sentiments people express in it disturbed me,I hope the answer to the title question isn't yes.

New security measures for Parliament hill.

I hope the new security measures won't be to restrictive,I can see the need for some security but there has to be a balance with still allowing access to Parliament hill and keeping everyone safe.

No kill shelters

An interesting article on no kill shelters,I would like to know what the statistics are for New Brunswick as to how many pets are put down.

I think a large part of the problem is irresponsible owners, the mother cat and 5 kittens that were dumped of in our yard in June could just as easily been taken to the shelter as dumped out to fend for themselves and if the owners had had the mother spayed to begin with then there would have been no problem.

Three year old survives plane crash

Although the loss of two lives is sad it is amazing that the little girl survived and that she was found in time.Search and rescue personnel are people I don't think about very much but they are very well trained and it good to know they are there to save lives when they are needed.
